The City of London is one of the oldest parts of the capitol, as it is located where London was first founded almost 2000 years ago. The City of London roughly constitutes the same area that was mostly unaltered until the beginning of the Industrial Revolution in the 18th Century. Known as the "Square Mile", the City nowadays is roughly bounded by the River Thames to the south, Chancery Lane to the west, Charterhouse Street to the north, and the Tower of London to the east. Although the old City's gates are long gone, you can still see their location in the street names. Join us on this video tour as we explore the Tower of London, Leadenhall Market, the City's financial district, St. Paul's Cathedral and more! The Tower of London To the east of the City you'll find the Tower of London b...
Maybe you've had enough of Brexit but there's always room surely for the 689th Lord Mayor of the City of London - he's the symbol of the financial district or Square Mile. We've been asking him if he thinks the UK can hold onto its top position after the UK leaves the EU. http://www.theoriginaltour.com http://www.visitlondon.com http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London London is the capital and most populous city of England and the United Kingdom. Standing on the River Thames, London has been a major settlement for two millennia, its history going back to its founding by the Romans, who named it Londinium. London's ancient core, the City of London, largely retains its 1.12-square-mile (2.9 km2) medieval boundaries and in 2011 had a resident population of 7,375, making it the smallest city in England. Since at least the 19th century, the term London has also referred to the metropolis developed around this core. The bulk of this conurbation forms the Greater London administrative area (coterminous with the London region), governed by the Mayor of London and th...

City of London-Ein Kontrast der nicht größer sein kann. Wunderschöne, alte ehrwürdige Gebäude, zwischen riesigen extravaganten Hochhäusern.
In the heart of London, in the global business district around St Paul’s, dedicated gardeners from the City of London Corporation tend more than 200 micro-parks in just one Square Mile. Many of this Square Mile’s 400,000 daily workers enjoy the flora and fauna through the seasons. Here five of these ‘Secret Gardens’ are introduced by the gardeners themselves. The elected City of London Corporation also runs major open spaces outside the Square Mile, including Hampstead Heath, seven commons around London, Burnham Beeches & Stoke Common and Epping Forest – for everyone in the South East to enjoy free of charge. It may be one of the world's most popular tourist destinations boasting historic sites and top attractions, but the city of London has now won a less auspicious title. A tongue-in-cheek book listing what it calls Britain's 'crappiest towns' has named it the country's worst. RT's Laura Smith reports from London. You asked for it - and you wanted it in high definition! So here it is, another bus ride - this time the No.28 as it passes through the capital's financial heart - the City of London. This time I have included the original audio from the bus ride mixed with some ambient bass guitar music to give you a great journey through the historic City. If you fancy following the journey on a map: We start at Cannon Street at the junction with Bread Street, and head east towards Queen Victoria Street. Passing Bank underground station with the Bank of England building on the left, we head on to Threadneedle Street. The bus continues along Threadneedle Street to Bishopsgate (and the corner of Liverpool Street station) before finishing at the east end of the City at Shoreditch High Street. What is partic...
